Walter Hansel Chardonnay Cahill Lane 2023, Russian River Valley Jeb Dunnuck 93 Points

 The 2023 Chardonnay The Cahill Lane Vineyard is bright yellow and, similar to The Estate Vineyards, has hints of white mushroom and musky notes, along with toasted baking spice, poached yellow apples, and hay. The palate is supple and full-bodied, with a creamy texture, a fruity feel through the mid-palate, and notes of almond on the finish. 

 Walter Hansel Pinot Noir Cuvee Alyce 2023, Russian River Valley 

Jeb Dunnuck 94 The 2023 Pinot Noir Cuvee Alyce pours a deep ruby color and is layered with aromas of leather, baked cherries, truffle, and crushed flowers. The palate is rounded, with a medium-bodied frame, a silky texture, ripe tannins, and an elegant, ripe finish. It has a more supple and pliant feel and is approachable now or over the coming 10 years.

 Jeb Dunnuck 93 Points The 2023 Pinot Noir The North Slope Vineyard reveals a more introspective and darker tone in the glass. It pours a ruby/magenta hue and is enveloping with notes of polished leather, ripe cherries, lavender perfume, and mossy earth. While medium-bodied, it fills the palate with a more expansive feel, ripe tannins that flesh out, and dark mineral notes building on the finish. It’s a more commanding wine in the range that will benefit from another year or so in cool cellars.
